OUR STORY
In 1975, a small group of people gathered together to fast and pray, longing to experience God in a way they had never experienced Him before. The ultimate outcome was the birth of Bible Truth Church. What began in the basement of a house with founding Pastor, Andrew Picklyk, has now grown into a vibrant church that is passionate about declaring the message of the kingdom of God.
In 2016 Pastor Jonny and Bryar Strutt stepped into the Lead Pastoral role and continued to build on the legacy of vibrant worship, empowering leaders and advancing God’s kingdom in Kamloops and the region. The growth continued in 2018 when we partnered with ARC Canada and launched a second location - our North Shore campus.
Along with the growth came a re-branding and in 2020 Bible Truth Church officially became Motion Church: communicating God’s dynamic work in every believer and His church. Acts 17:28 “For in Him we have life and motion and existence.”
The heartbeat of Motion Church is for everyone in our city to know God, find freedom and discover their purpose so they can make a difference.
our beliefs.
GOD
We believe in the existence of one true God who has revealed Himself to this world as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit through the Word of God and the person of Jesus Christ. We believe that God created humans to have a relationship with Him. We believe that God the Father cares deeply for all of humanity, and desires for each and every person to find their way back to a restored relationship with Him through Jesus. God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal parts of one God. Genesis 1:1, Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 3:22, Psalm 90:2, Matthew 28:19, 1 Peter 1:2, 2 Corinthians 13:14
JESUS
We believe that the best decision you could ever make is to follow Jesus. It is only Jesus, through his death and resurrection, that makes our relationship with God the Father possible. Jesus alone has mediated "for us and has made us right with God...", by forgiving us from all sin and inviting us into a life inspired and shaped by His unconditional love and grace. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, co-equal with the Father and Holy Spirit. Jesus left heaven to become fully human and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven and will return again to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Matthew 1:22-23, Isaiah 9:6, John 1:1-5, John 14:10-30, Hebrews 4:14-15,1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Romans 1:3-4, Acts 1:9-11, 1 Timothy 6:14-15, Titus 2:13
HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit exists as a third unique expression of God. Holy Spirit draws people to belief and faith in Jesus. The Holy Spirit also strengthens and gives power to those who follow Jesus as we learn to grow in our faith. Holy Spirit works in tandem with our human spirit, inspiring and equipping us to walk out our faith. The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son, as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He provides Christians with understanding of spiritual truth, power for living, and guidance in doing what is right. Christians seek to live under His control daily. 2 Corinthians 3:17, John 16:7-13, John 14:16-17, Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 2:12, 1 Corinthians 3:16, Ephesians 1:13, Galatians 5:25, Ephesians 5:18
HUMANKIND
Humankind was created good and upright; for God said, "Let us make humanity in our image, after our likeness." However, by voluntary wrongdoing and willful disobedience, humanity fell out of their relationship with God and fell prey to a broken and contrary sin nature. This resulted in not only physical death but spiritual death, which is separation from God.
SALVATION
We believe that salvation is God's free gift to us; that Jesus was crucified and died for our sin, was buried and on the third day rose again for the mediation of humanity. We can never make up for our sin through self-improvement or living well. It is only by trusting in and choosing to follow Jesus, and what he accomplished for us. Eternal life begins the moment one truly accepts Jesus into their life by faith through prayer. The inward evidence of accepting Jesus is the presence and leading of the Holy Spirit. The outward evidence to all people is a life of righteousness and Godly holiness that serves as a credit to the message of Jesus as we grow and mature in our faith. Salvation is God's gift to you if you'll accept it.
BIBLE
The Bible is God's Word given to every person. It was inspired by God and written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of Holy Spirit. It is the absolute and final source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. The Bible is God's Word to all men. It is the ultimate source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21, 2 Timothy 1:13, Psalm 119:105, Psalm 119:160, Psalm 12:6, Proverbs 30:5
ETERNITY
You were created to exist forever. We believe that forever is spent in one of two places: eternally separated from God because of sin or in union with God because of His forgiveness and salvation. When you die, you will either spend eternity in heaven or hell. Eternal separation from God happens in hell. Eternal union with God occurs in heaven. John 3:16, 1 John 2:25, John 5:11-13, Romans 6:23, Revelation 20:15
